Our Nuclear Services, located in Tiverton, ON, is looking for a Project Manager to join our team.
Summary of the Role
The Project Manager is our client's main contact on the Project and will demonstrate the professionalism and leadership that is incumbent upon that responsibility. The Project Manager will set the bar for an expectation of excellence in everything we do - safety, quality, communication, schedule adherence, and cost, from bid submission and job planning, right through to commissioning of the finished construction.
Key Responsibilities
- Prime accountability for project safety record, schedule, and budget.
- Spokesperson for the project and its progress, timelines for completion, etc.
- Manage all aspects of project planning including the development of the execution strategy, budget, schedule, procurement and contracting plans, risk, scope and change management plans.
- Be a dependable leader who earns their teammates and client's trust.
- Authorize all project spending and wording of commitments made to vendors, and review and approve payment of invoices for puchased goods and subcontracted services.
- Chair technical discussions and drive to reach prompt solutions and consensus on any technical issues or procedural issues that are delaying progress.
- Provide constructive feedback as appropriate.
- Keep the team's spirit positive even during difficult times.
- Manage all day-to-day project management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Leader of Change Management. Control and oversee the changes that occur throughout the project such as change of design, change of scope, delays, change of project personnel, etc.
- Monitor project performance (cost, schedule, quality) and complete and distribute regular project reports to key stakeholders.
- Monitor, maintain and report risks and issues that occur within the project activities.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Be a mentor and help those with less experience or related education develop their personal skillset and confidence.
- Supervise and assure completion of project close-out activities and support the commissioning and transition to operation.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills
Candidates shall posess at least one of the following certifications / degrees:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
- P. Eng and Project Management Professional (PMP) designation preferred.
- Technician or Technologist Diploma in technical or management field.
- Construction trade COQ.
- Gold Seal Certification.
- Approximately 10 years of accumulated lifelong learning experience equivalency through workplace position or training.
- Project Management experience within a nuclear power plant is an asset.
- Industry or related construction/heavy industrial projects experience is an asset.
- Working experience in an EPC environment.
- Specialized industrial/engineering knowledge or accreditation such as in instrumentation and controls, or welding.
- Experience in project estimating, planning, coordination or execution is an asset.
- Knowledge of Primavera P6 or alternative project scheduling software.
- Understanding of project management and construction processes, and need for procedural compliance is a requirement.
- Experience providing routine and timely updates regarding project status; serving as the representative for progress and next steps for the projects.
