Our Nuclear Services office in Pickering, ON, is looking for a Civil Construction General Foreperson to join our team.
Summary of the Role
A team lead position in the nuclear industry supporting E. S. Fox Limited at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, directing Civil trades utilized in performing projects and maintenance work. This position will focus on significant strategic project initiatives in addition to standard civil project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures field execution of projects adhere to safety requirements, scope, schedule and standards/procedures.
- Provides field oversight and support of civil subcontractors and their daily activities on site.
- Attend and monitor pre-job briefings, safe work planning, daily site visits, post job debriefs and weekly tailboard meetings.
- Participate and provide input in project meetings.
- Provide input and feedback on the scheduling of civil activities within the project.
- Review designs and provide civil related feedback to design team.
- Ensure that all activities performed meet design requirements and specifications.
- Communicate impacts and design deviations to project team.
- Coordinate field activities with the other trade supervisors on the project.
- Communicate and coordinate with Project Superintendent on any resource constraints.
- Ensures the right number of resources are assigned to the project for civil to safely perform the work with quality within the project budget.
- Responsible for ensuring civil trades follow E.S. Fox Limited and Ontario Power Generation processes and each EHS Policies.
- Work with team to deliver projects according to design, budget, and schedule.
- Perform lookahead review to identify problems and resolutions in advance to minimize project impacts.
- Challenge less than desirable results and work towards implanting positive changes.
- Provide daily oversight on projects with the trades performing the work.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills
- 10-15 years of experience in civil construction projects.
- 5+ Years experience in a supervisory position over civil activities on construction projects.
- 5 -10 years of experience in nuclear construction.
- Demonstrated work experience, working with diverse, multi-disciplined work groups.
- Managing within collective agreements, ideally with the Electrical Power System Construction Association.
- Strong leadership skills, in leading/managing diverse multi-disciplined work groups.
- Overall knowledge of nuclear industry practices.
- Understand and comply with all EHS policies and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
- Highly motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage deadlines and requirements of multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Base level computer competency.
- Maintain and or exceed the required safety and quality standards.
- Adhere to the established project schedule and budgets.
- Maintain the required level of skill and competence with the construction activities.
- Identify, recommend training needs, and develop staff.
