Our Nuclear Services office in Oshawa, ON, is looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our team.

 

Summary of the Role

 The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for working alongside the design team to determine the proper technical and quality requirements for items/services in the nuclear industry. The role requires review of technical specifications and purchasing orders to ensure technical applicability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure procurement meets the technical and quality requirements, acceptance criteria, and acceptance methods in order to assure that properties and attributes of importance are imparted to the item/service throughout the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) lifecycle of existing and new nuclear projects.
  • Implement procurement specialist programs, procedures, and processes and demonstrate full proficiency in all aspects of Procurement Specialist related functions.
  • Determine the technical and quality requirements for items/services using the Nuclear Plant design basis to maintain configuration control.
  • Utilize design basis requirements to establish material classification, alternate replacement evaluation, shelf-life evaluations, and in-storage maintenance requirements.
  • Self-manage assignments/tasks utilizing applied scheduling tools.
  • Provide timely and effective communication with Stakeholders (Design Engineering, Modification Team Leads, Supply Chain, Quality Control, etc.) pertaining to all aspects of Procurement Specialist work being performed. 
  • Write procurement specialist procedures, instructions, and guidelines.
  • Review vendor audits, code certifications, and quality assurance qualifications, as required.
  • Review Technical Specifications and Design Bill of Materials, as required.
  • Participate in external and internal audits and self-assessments, as required.
  • Initiate Action Requests/Request IDs, as required.
  • Complete training courses to maintain Procurement Specialist qualifications.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills

  • Community College Technologist/Technician Diploma (C.E.T.).
  • Exhibit familiarity with Codes and Standards such as, but not limited to, CSA N285, CSA N286, CSA B51, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, IEEE.
  • Professional Certification CCA Gold Seal Program is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline is an asset.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar procurement engineering role.
  • Must have strong technical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with use of Asset Suite 9, PowerSearch, etc.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are required.
