The Niagara Falls, ON, office is looking for a Human Resources Co-op Student to join the Human Resources department for the summer work term.

  

Summary of the Role

Reporting to the Corporate Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Co-op Student will be responsible for providing administrative and HR support in a fast-paced office environment. The Human Resources Co-op Student will gain exposure to high volume recruitment, while assisting with the coordination of recruitment activities including but not limited to job postings, pre-screening, interviews and completion of employment references. This position will also assist in the coordination of new hire onboarding, providing assistance to internal and external stakeholders as well as contributing to the completion of daily administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with employee recruitment (posting vacancies, pre-screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and reference checks).
  • Prepare and coordinate new employee onboarding activities (ensuring all administrative tasks are completed).
  • Post all recruitment activity and HR related material to document management system.
  • Update documents as required (job descriptions, templates, forms, etc.).
  • Provide scheduling and administrative support.
  • Responsible for responding to day-to-day general HR inquiries in person, by telephone or by email.
  • Other duties as assigned, including HR projects and functions.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills

  • Working toward the completion of a Bachelor's degree, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources, or College diploma from a recognized Human Resources Management program.
  • CHRP in progress is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Ontario Employment Standards Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Knowledge of the full-cycle recruitment processes.
  • Experience in a Construction/Engineering/Nuclear or Project Management environment would be a definite asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to always maintain a high level of confidentiality while handling sensitive information.
  • Exemplary customer service focus.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) are required. 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a fast-paced environment.
