Our office in Niagara Falls, ON, is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to support the team for an anticipated duration of 15 months.

Summary of the Role

The Human Resources Advisor will be responsible for providing guidance and support on human resources matters focusing on areas such as high volume recruitment, employee relations and performance management, while also ensuring compliance with employment legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment

  • Lead the recruitment and selection process, including posting vacancies, screening candidates, participating in interviews, completing employment references and extending employment offers.
  • Assist in creating comprehensive job descriptions and postings that align with organizational needs.

 

Onboarding and Training

  • Support and coordinate the onboarding process by coordinating and facilitating orientation.
  • Responsible for coordinating new employee training sessions.

 

Policy Development:

  • Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of HR policies and procedures aligned with changes in legislation and company requirements.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and documents such as the employee handbook, while assisting in communicating updates and changes to all employees as required.

 

Benefit Administration:

  • Assist employees with benefit-related questions and ensure compliance with the benefit programs.
  • Provide guidance on employee wellness and engagement initiatives.
  • Accurately process benefit applications as well as benefit changes.

 

Performance Management and Employee Relations:

  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling probationary and performance reviews.
  • Provide managers with support in navigating team challenges, and performance management, while providing recommendations and advisement on best practices.
  • Assist the Corporate Human Resources Manager in drafting employment agreements, departure letters, leave of absence letters and other correspondence, as required.

 

Special Projects:

  • Support new and ongoing HR projects and initiatives that help support company objectives and that improve HR processes.

Key Requirements, Experience and Skills

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a specialization in Human Resources or College Diploma from a recognized Human Resources Management program.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly the Ontario Employment Standards Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the full-cycle recruitment process.
  • CHRP designation or working toward the designation is an asset.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of human resources generalist experience.
  • Experience with benefits administration is required.
  • Experience in a Construction/Engineering/Nuclear or Project Management environment would be a definite asset.
  • Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications and Adobe.
  • HRIS and applicant tracking system (ATS) experience is required; experience working with SAP SuccessFactors is preferred.
  • Problem solving and mediation skills while having the ability to maintain a neutral and impartial position.
