Our office in Hamilton, ON, is looking for a Quality Assurance Manager to join our team.
Summary of the Role
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for administering the company quality program in accordance with customer and company requirements. The Quality Assurance Manager shall support the Area/Location Manager by effectively ensuring that QA Programs and Management Systems have been effectively implemented at the location and ensuring that personnel and products manufactured and fabricated at the location are in compliance with E.S. Fox Limited policies, procedures, and processes, and meet all of the applicable code, standard, and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Directly responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the applicable company quality management systems and programs and provides regular, updated reporting on their performance at the Stoney Creek location and associated field sites.
- May be required to assist in development and preparation of QA Manuals, procedures, and work instructions.
- Establish and implement procedures and processes for maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, and safety, while collaborating with functional groups to define and enforce quality requirements in accordance with company needs and based on applicable legislation, codes, standards, regulations, design, and customer requirements.
- May be required to support, plan, and coordinate periodic internal audits, and actively participate in external audits.
- Provide necessary documentation to maintain company certifications.
- Organize and promote quality improvement efforts.
- Evaluate and develop techniques for the control of quality, reliability, and safety.
- Ensure adherence to codes, standards, customer requirements, E.S. Fox Limited quality processes and procedures, as well as legislative requirements.
- Act as the liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality systems.
- Review contract documentation and specified quality requirements, and develop or initiate the development of inspection test plans and procedures.
- Monitor all projects using all available quality reporting systems and remain fully informed as to their status.
- Maintain full and complete communication to ensure that information is freely communicated on all matters.
- Interface with regulatory agencies and contractor associations for quality-related matters on behalf of E.S. Fox Limited.
- Coordinate and supervise quality aspects of all projects in accordance with established company policy and procedures.
- Perform incoming inspections, in-process inspections, and final inspections, as required.
- Cooperate with other managers within the branch and company to promote harmony in the best interests of the organization.
- Direct the responsibilities and manage the daily activities of technical personnel and complex activities.
- Provide training on quality management systems and programs for company personnel, as required.
- Remain aware and up to date on the required codes and standards, manual, and procedure revisions that affect current company operations, as well as those that may impact future company opportunities.
- Ensure responsibilities and accountabilities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with E.S. Fox Limited safety policy/procedures, ISO 45001 standards and OHSA requirements.
- Ensure that environmental aspects within the scope of responsibility are adhered to pursuant to ISO 14001 requirements.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Quality or Engineering, or C.E.T. is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years’ Q.A. field experience in a construction and/or nuclear environment.
- Intimate knowledge of various Q.A. codes, standards and/or protocols.
- CSA W178.2 certified Level 2 Visual Inspector (W47.1 and/or W47.2 endorsements, preferred).
- CAN/CGSB-48.9712 certified Liquid Penetrant (PT) and/or Magnetic Particle (MT) Level 2.
- Dimensional and Visual Inspection techniques.
- Sound knowledge of various quality specifications, procedures, standards, and codes.
- Experienced with the development/preparation of ITP (Inspection Test Plans) to various code requirements.
- Fully conversant with Boiler and Pressure Vessel Fabrication in accordance with ASME Section I, Section VIII, Division 1, and pressure piping and components in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3; CSA B51.
- Experience with ISO 9001, CSA N299, CSA B51, ASME Section I, II, V, VIII, IX, B31.1, B31.3 and/or ISO 9001 is an asset.
- Experience in several QC disciplines (Visual, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Radiography, Ultrasonic and/or Dimensional Inspections).
- Experience interfacing with external stakeholders (Customer and/or Jurisdictional Authority).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings (i.e. blueprints).
- Computer skills - Proficiency with MS Word & Excel for completing forms, generating and maintaining spreadsheets, and tracking logs and checklists.
- Excellent communication skills (both written & verbal).
