Our Nuclear Services office in Darlington, Pickering, ON, is looking for a QC Inspector (Mechanical) to join our team.
Summary of the Role
Reporting to the Site Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Control Inspector (Mechanical) is responsible for implementing, monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Company Quality policies, programs and practices in respect of the various and required codes and standards on company work projects and fabrications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ITPs for fabrication and installation of Nuclear Class and Conventional Pressure Vessels, Piping and Structural components.
- Review and determine applicable quality standards and procedures for inspection of components.
- Inspect work to determine conformance with construction specifications and welding requirements.
- Document the results of inspections in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with QA Program Requirements.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders for construction trades.
- Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections.
- Perform dimensional and visual inspections on piping and pressure vessels and structural components constructed to ASME/CSA or CWB codes.
- Monitor trades compliance with ESFL Quality Assurance Program and applicable standards, inspection and test plans, and procedures.
- Maintain M&TE calibration records.
- Verify dimensions of fabrications and code vessel calibration using various inspection tools.
- Establish procedures for testing welding of vessels, piping and structural components.
- Present and expedite solutions to fabrication problems and testing procedures.
- Prepare and review history files & code data reports (i.e. pressure vessel, piping or partial data reports.).
- Interface with TSSA and customer representatives.
- Participate and support ESFL in internal/external audits including TSSA certification and customer audits.
Key Requirements, Experience and Skills
- A bachelor’s degree or diploma in quality, engineering or C.E.T. is preferred.
- Strong foundation of inspection techniques.
- Comprehensive knowledge of various QA/QC codes.
- Well versed in ASME-BPVC Section I, II, III, V, VIII and IX, B31.1 and B31.3.
- CWB or CGSB NDE Certifications would be an asset.
- Knowledge of and experience with CSA N299, N285.0, N286-12, ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001.
- Completely familiar with the development and implementation of ITP or inspection checklists to various codes.
- Background with inspection and construction operations is required.
- A minimum of 5 years’ QA field experience in a construction and/or nuclear environment is required.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) are required.
